FICCI - KPMG Global Skills Mobility Report 2024

November 2024 | Skill Development

The global talent shortage is accelerating at an unprecedented rate, with a projected shortage of over 85 million skilled workers by 20302, driven largely by demographic shifts, technological advancements, and economic restructuring in many regions. India, with its abundant young and skilled workforce, has the potential to fill significant portions of these labor gaps, especially in highdemand areas, such as healthcare, technology, engineering, and green energy. This report explores India’s expanding role in the global workforce across critical migration corridors, particularly to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Europe including the United Kingdom, and Australia. It outlines emerging skill requirements, sector-specific demands, and the key government and industry initiatives shaping India’s labor migration landscape.
