FICCI Africa Desk is mounting a Business Delegation to Uganda and Kenya, accompanying Shri Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India. He is spearheading a business delegation of the apex Chambers of Commerce to Uganda and Kenya, from 8-9 April 2024 and 10-12 April 2024, respectively. The Business Delegation will primarily focus on B2B and B2G connect during the visit.

 

Uganda and Kenya are the economic powerhouses of East Africa (EAC), with a total export potential estimated at USD 10.2 Billion, which is about 19 Percent of the total intra-African export potential. The ratification of AfCFTA agreement has catalysed creating a single market for goods, services, labour, and capital across their Africa economies.

 

• Uganda (8-9 April 2024) | Focus Sectors : Multi-Sector – Agriculture, Agro and Food processing, Manufacturing, IT, Defence, Pharma and Health, Energy, Startups and Fintech

 

• Kenya (10-12 April 2024) | Focus Sectors : Agriculture - Agriculture and Agro-processing; Contract farming, cultivation particularly rice and millets; and allied sectors: seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, agro-equipment & tech; amongst others.

 

Our Hon Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, announced India’s Line of Credit (LOC) of USD 250 million to Kenya for modernizing its agricultural sector. During Kenyan Presidential visit to India in December 2023, the Government of Kenya also offered to provide land to Indian companies and institutions for cultivation of crops including millets, in Kenya. The delegation will facilitate B2B Networking and Institutional visits, meetings with Chambers and Industry bodies and interactions with Indian High Commissions in Uganda and Kenya
